Nevada Minimum Wage: The Flat $12 Rate
Nevada's minimum wage is simpler than California's — one flat statewide rate, with no city or county variations. But it still drives a uniquely Nevada rule: who is owed daily overtime.
One flat statewide rate
As of July 1, 2024, Nevada's minimum wage is a flat $12.00/hour. The old two-tier system — a lower rate if the employer offered qualifying health insurance — was eliminated by a 2022 voter-approved constitutional amendment (Nev. Const. art. 15 §16; NRS 608.250).
No local minimum wages
Unlike California, Nevada cities and counties do not set their own higher minimum wages. The statewide rate applies everywhere in the state.
It sets the daily-overtime cutoff
Nevada's daily-overtime rule keys off 1.5× the minimum wage ($18.00/hour): employees earning below that line are owed daily overtime, while those at or above it are not. So the minimum wage indirectly decides daily-overtime eligibility.
No tip credit
Nevada does not allow a tip credit. The full minimum wage applies regardless of tips, and tips belong to the employee (NRS 608.160).
Stay current
Confirm the current rate and post the Nevada Labor Commissioner's annual minimum-wage bulletin each year.
