Nevada Pay Transparency & Salary History (NRS 613.133)

Nevada limits what you can ask about pay and requires you to share salary ranges at a specific point in the hiring process. Getting the timing right keeps you compliant.

Salary-history ban

Employers may not ask an applicant about their wage or salary history, and may not rely on it to decide whether to interview or hire, or to set pay (NRS 613.133).

Wage-range disclosure

Employers must automatically provide the wage or salary range or rate for a position to an applicant who has completed an interview — the applicant does not have to ask.

Promotions and transfers

On request, provide the wage range to a current employee seeking a promotion or transferonce they have applied, interviewed, or received an offer for the new position.

Practical steps

  • Remove salary-history questions from applications and interview scripts;
  • Set defensible pay ranges before posting and have them ready to share;
  • Train recruiters and hiring managers on the timing of disclosure.
