Nevada Workplace Safety & Nevada OSHA

Nevada runs its own OSHA program, and it has a distinctive requirement many employers miss: a written workplace safety program once you reach 11 employees.

Nevada is a state-plan OSHA jurisdiction

Nevada OSHA, within the Division of Industrial Relations (DIR), enforces workplace safety under NAC 618 — adopting the federal OSHA standards plus Nevada-specific rules.

Written safety program & safety committee

  • Employers with 11 or more employees must maintain a written workplace safety program (NRS 618.383);
  • Certain employers must establish a safety committee (NRS 618.376).

Heat illness & hazard standards

Nevada adopted a heat-illness regulation (effective 2024–2025), and the usual hazard standards apply — hazard communication, PPE, lockout/tagout, and emergency action plans.

Recordkeeping, reporting & free help

  • Keep OSHA 300/300A injury logs and post the 300A summary;
  • Report serious injuries, illnesses, and deaths to Nevada OSHA;
  • Use the free SCATS (Safety Consultation and Training Section) consultation — it does not issue citations.
